Session Topic: Step-By-Step Process for Creating a Timeless User Experience Dashboard

Session Description: Business users are demanding that business intelligence (BI) and analytical applications employ the same level of experience as consumer apps. For a good dashboard to work successfully, it needs to showcase certain characteristics to portray the information the user is wanting to consume. In this session, we will go through a step-by-step process for creating a timeless user experience for dashboards and applications that can be scalable, usable and visually appealing.

Presenter: Nicholas Holloway is a UI/UX Designer & Developer helping clients design and develop digital solutions in SharePoint 2010, 2013 and Office 365/SharePoint Online. Since 2010, he has designed digital web experiences for projects related to intranets, portals, websites and web applications with Fortune 500 and other reputable companies like Intel, Lockheed Martin, Five Guys, Georgia Pacific, Cox Communications, ARRIS Group, Simmons and many others that span multiple industry disciplines. He is just a designer and alchemist crafting concepts one pixel at a time! Nicholas has had a passion for collaboration and connecting with tech entrepreneurs across the globe. Outside of his work, Nicholas has been a co-organizer for Interaction Design Atlanta (IxDA), sponsor for One Child Matters, and speaker for local tech workshops/meetups.

Session Topic: Introduction to DAX

Session Description: This is an introductory session about the DAX language. DAX (Data Analysis eXpressions) is the native language of Power BI, Power Pivot for Excel, and Tabular models in Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services as well as Azure Analysis Services. This session will set you up to take advantage of DAX to turbo charge your Power BI solutions. The target audience is geared towards business users and/or data analysts who are familiar with Power BI and/or Excel and want to leverage these technologies to support reporting and create better insights through visualizations.

Presenter: Venkatesh Umamaheswaran is a BI Data Analyst at XPO Logistics at Charlotte, NC. He has a passion for Data Science and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He believes that “Data is useless by itself, data is only useful when you apply it.” He loves applying statistical and analytical techniques to data and likes exploring several approaches to build a perfect model. He earned his M.S. in Information Technology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and specializes in Data Science and Business Analytics.
